Poetry, Week 19: Michel Krysiak
genesis 22:19
so abraham returned to his young men with isaac, and
they arose and went together to beer-sheba; and abraham
and isaac live at beer-sheba.
now after these things isaac speaks many times
and at length.
to his co-workers as he digs the wells. calling his
brother ishmael to ask him for the netflix password.
chatting to the women at the supermarket. he asks his
father:
what’s for dinner?
at the kitchen table his father skins a fish; isaac says:
it’s a big one – for the price. and he thinks of nothing.
but he does dream of it.
it is said isaac discusses the cost of fish online. the topic
shifts to anglers and fishmongers. other animals. there’s
a lot to consider.
the economy – inflation. is it a capricious thing? does it
touch all meat equally? experts predict it shall remain
steady.
in the evening when he meditates,
isaac does not pray;
he waits.
