Week 29: Sam Rosolina
I’ll Get There With Time
Old Joey lights up a cigarette
The warm glow reflects in his face
His beer glass is empty
but another would just go to waste
He sits in the corner - smiling
Watching the people around
Thinking of old friends
And how much he loves this damn town
I called to say, “Happy ever after.”
I just called to say everything’s gonna be just fine
I’m feeling better
I’m doing better
I’ll get there with time
He’s on his two feet for the first time
in what seems like hundreds of years
His chest lifts and falls as he exhales old sadness and fears
I called to say, “Happy ever after.”
I just called to say everything’s gonna be just fine
I’m feeling better
I’m doing better
I’ll get there with time
He stands still in front of the payphone
Stares at the floor for a time
Drops in a quarter, dials their old number and waits for a voice on the line
I called to say, “Happy ever after.”
I just called to say everything’s gonna be just fine
I’m feeling better
I’m doing better
I’ll get there with time
Sam Rosolina was born and raised in southern Appalachia where his love of storytelling and traditional music inspired his own creativity. Sam is an environmental chemist by trade but often turns to songwriting as a form of release and expression.
