Alan D. Pocaro is an artist, educator, and writer based in Illinois. Pocaro is currently Assistant Professor of Foundations and Digital Media at Eastern Illinois University and was formerly adjunct faculty at both the Art Academy of Cincinnati and Miami University. He is associated with the New Aesthetics movement, an informal group of artists and writers who emphasize the physical and material nature of art. A native of Cleveland, Pocaro holds an MFA in Studio Art from Miami University, an MA in Education from the University of Akron, and a BFA in Art History from Ohio University. He regularly contributes art-criticism to NewCity, and his writing has been featured in SmilePolitely, articritcal, AbstractCritical, ART PAPERS, as well as CityBeat.
