Artist Statement: Dylan is an artist predominantly focused on sculpture, investigating the relationship between traditional, narrative painting and contemporary materials. He explores the relationship between art history and its context in modern society, highlighting the forgotten narratives of old masters. He uses re-cycled cardboard and parcel tape to produce work that is at once familiar but dramatised by its original use of form and perspective.

Dylan Shields was born in Brighton, UK. He travelled extensively, working and absorbing other cultures, before returning to the UK to study Fine Art at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Whilst at University he was invited to enter, and consequently won the competition to design the Dutch 2 Euro Erasmus Commemorative coin, 2011. Dylan has exhibited nationally and internationally including London, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Japan, and Holland. Dylan now lives and works in London.
