Grass and Falling Body | Ink Jet Print, Rice Paper | 12" x 15" | 2014

Artist Statement: Grass and Falling Body is part of the series Body and Landscape, created while as an artist in residence at Elsewhere Studios in Paonia, Colorado. The series is captured using an old Leica M4-2. The series explores the merging of body and landscape and the sublime vs. grotesque representations of the female form.

Landon L Newton is a photographer/multimedia artist from Woody Creek, Colorado. She holds a B.A. from Smith College and will be entering the post-bac program for photography at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in the fall of 2014. Her work has been exhibited in Colorado and Massachusetts. Before seriously pursing photography she worked as a freelance rooftop gardener and horticulturist in New York City.
