Devin Mawdsley is a visual artist and educator living in Chicago. His multimedia work, which includes drawing, painting, and photography, seeks to offer up a strong sense of wonder, with a particular interest in the concepts of infinite and scale in general. He is currently guided by and fascinated with the notion of Umberto Eco's hyperreality, which will soon manifest as a series of large, dense, intensely faceted imagined landscape drawings, both digital and analog. Devin presently teaches Fundamental Drawing at The Chicago High School for the Arts. He has also served as an associate instructor of Fundamental Drawing at Indiana University, and recently led several National Geographic Student Expedition photography trips throughout China. His work is housed in a number of collections, including the Department of State, Art in Embassies program, the art collection of the College of William and Mary, as well as various private collections.
